The motto on the badge of the corps is >> HONI SOIT QUI MALY PENSE << which is french in origin.
And means >> SHAME ON HIM WHO THINKS THIS EVIL <<.
It is incorporated into the badge of the corps using the emblem of the most noble order of the garter.
An ancient order of knighthood of which the queen is sovereign and dates back to edward 3rd.
It was reputedly to be a revival of the round table.
